In Saskatchewan, Canada, a potassium salt mine was built again 40 years later. The project was built by the German K+S Group. The last time the K+S Group built a potash mine in the area was still in the 1970s. The mine is expected to have an annual production capacity of 2.86 million tons. The first production line will be put into operation in 2015. After it is completed, the mine will have an annual capacity of 4 million tons.

Nobert Steiner, chief executive of the K+S Group, said that the K+S Group will spend US$3.25 billion to complete the project. The project will provide over 6 million hours of direct employment and 1 million hours of indirect employment.
