China Navigation orders 16 MacGregor cranes

Recently, in a bid to build the most efficient bulk carrier, China Navigation once again ordered 16 electric-powered bulk version of the variable frequency MacGregor crane from Cargotec, which was in the order of Cargotec in the second quarter of 2012.

In order to support the new series of four Bdelta37 39500dwt flexible bulk carriers, China Navigation Company Pte Co Ltd, (CNCo) has appointed Cargotec's electric drive bulk version of the variable frequency MacGregor crane. It is reported that the new ship will be built by China Chengxi Shipyard and is expected to be delivered in 2013-2014. Each ship will be equipped with four GLBE 3026-2 MacGregor cranes, with a preference for six ships.

Per-Erik Nilsson, President of Cargotec Cargo Handling Crane Sales and Marketing, said, “As of now, more than 200 power cranes have been designated for use by different shipowners, representing the shift in crane technology from hydraulic systems to variable frequency drives”.
