After the recall of CR-V in the auto complaints report in May, the number of complaints has risen instead of risen.

Recently, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) announced the latest auto product defect information (ie, auto complaints). We first summarized the complaints of passenger cars in May 2018.

Honda's complaints rose

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced that the total number of passenger vehicle complaints in May was 1064 (including imported cars), which was a drop from 1265 in April.

Among them, the number of complaints concerning engine-related issues fell from 710 in April to 509, and complaints regarding transmission systems rose slightly. It is worth noting that, under the trend of decreasing overall complaints, the Honda brand's complaint volume in May rose from 179 in April to 304.

As we all know, on May 16th, Dongfeng Honda has announced the recall of CR-V on May 22, and it was precisely on May 17 of the next day after the recall plan was announced that the Dongfeng Honda owned CR-V and Civic models. There was an explosive growth in the amount of complaints. On May 21st the day before the recall, the number of complaints on the two models escalated to 102.

Obviously, this data shows that for many Dongfeng CR-Vs and Civic owners, Dongfeng Honda's solutions for the “throttle”-related models do not satisfy them.

Brand complaints

Regarding the complaint volume of passenger car brands, we mainly consider the amount of complaints per 10,000 units. Brands with a total complaint volume below 10 are not included in the statistics.

In May, the performance of the Honda brand's complaints showed a differentiation. GAC Honda had a total of 13 complaints, ranking 18th among all brands and involving a million complaints of 2.2. However, Dongfeng Honda's complaints deteriorated compared to April, and the number of complaints from Wantai remained high at 49.2. According to the sales data released by Nippon Field China, the cumulative sales volume of Honda brand in China fell by 15.3% year-on-year in May, and the negative impact of the “oil throttle” is apparently still there.

In May, FAW Mazda reported 18.4 million complaints, and it has entered the top 3 for the first time this year. The amount of complaints was mainly concentrated on Mazda 6 Artz, and the main complaints were about abnormal sounds and faults in the steering system.

The Chevrolet brand's complaints are still concentrated in the old Cruze, which accounts for more than half of the total complaints. The main complaints are gearbox, engine and steering system. Changan Ford ranked fourth in the number of complaints in May, and the complaints mainly focused on the issue of New Fox’s automatic transmission.

The CS10 brake problem still brought Cheetahs up to 12 complaints and 10,000 complaints ranked fifth. The number of complaints from Dongfeng Citroen was mainly from the C4L model. The GAC Fick Jeep’s engine burning problem also continues to haunt some freelance and guide owners.

FAW-Audi, Beijing-Benz and Dongfeng Peugeot ranked the 8th to 10th in complaints, and there were no complaints about vehicle types and failures.

Which models have the highest volume of complaints?

In terms of the number of car complaints in May, the number of complaints concerning the Civic vehicle models reached 256.8, surpassing the CR-V's 123.4, ranking high on the list. The complaints of most models have been introduced above and will not be repeated here.

In addition, the sixth complaint from Volkswagen Golf mainly focused on problems such as gearbox setbacks, while the tenth Audi Q5 suffered a total of 13 complaints including engine shake, burning oil, and abnormal brake sounds.

Which car complaints are high?

In terms of the number of vehicle complaints in May, the number of complaints from domestic brands in the Honda brand has risen sharply. The Japanese brand not only has the highest number of complaints, but the number of complaints against Taiwan exceeds that of the legal system and once again ranks first. Although the total number of complaints for legal vehicles is not high, due to the low sales base, it still ranks second with 8.5 complaints.

The number of complaints from the US Department of Automobile Wantai ranked third, and the total amount of complaints was second only to Japan. In May, Korean cars continued to perform well. The number of complaints per million Taiwan was only 2.4, ranking fifth. The biggest surprise was the Chinese brand. The number of complaints per million Taiwan was only 1.9. The performance was even better than that of Korean cars. Of course, there was a large sales base, and some low-end models complained about their low willingness to make complaints. However, Chinese brands have made progress in quality. It is obvious to all.

In respect of complaints about imported cars, the number of complaints against German imported vehicles continued to rank first, reaching 38 cases. The main complaint brands were imported models of Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen and Audi brands. The complaint models were not concentrated.

There was no more complaints about the U.S. car imports. However, only a handful of Tesla Model X and S models sold in May received a total of three complaints related to transmission and suspension systems.

Among the Japanese imported models, in addition to the Subaru Outback and Forester who continued to be on the list, Lexus, which has always been known for its quality, suffered three complaints. Volvo's imports of old XC60 T5 models continued to suffer gearbox complaints in May, and the volume of complaints increased compared to April.
