Oxygen permeability test:

The VAC-V1 Differential Pressure Gas Permeameter from Labthink was selected at 23±2°C, 50±5% RH. The film was cut into a circular specimen with a diameter of 90 mm. The specimen was laid flat on the lower chamber of the VAC-V1 tester. The finger was gently stroked and the handle was lowered to lower the upper chamber. Turn on the vacuum pump and start the test. At this point, the upper chamber is a flowing high-purity oxygen and the lower chamber is a vacuum. Because of the difference in pressure between the two sides of the sample, oxygen penetrates from the upper chamber through the lower chamber of the sample. The oxygen permeability of the sample can be calculated by testing the pressure in the lower chamber. The VAC-V1 Differential Pressure Gas Permeameter is computer controlled and easy to operate.

Moisture permeability test:

The moisture permeability test selects the W3/0120 water vapor transmission rate tester. During the test, the film is cut into a circular sample with a diameter of 74 mm. Before placing the sample into the moisture permeable cup, it can be placed in the support frame to avoid the sample being too soft against the water surface. Place the moisture-permeable cup with the sample in the instrument and start the test. The weight change of the permeation cup before and after the test was automatically weighed by the system to calculate the water vapor transmission rate of the sample. The test conditions selected 38 °C, 90% RH, test interval set 30min.

Because the fruit protective film is generally thin, about 10-20 microns in thickness, if you do not flatten the sample, it is prone to wrinkles, resulting in erroneous test results.

Result analysis:

Judging from the test results, the oxygen permeability of polyethylene protective film varies between 2000-70000cm3/m2.24h.0.1MPa, and the moisture permeability is between 30-40g/m2.24h.
