MAN Diesel & Turbo has signed a contract to supply six MAN 16V32/44CR engines for marine diesel-specific denitration equipment (selective catalytic reduction denitration equipment, SCR), and a multi-functional deepwater construction support vessel from Petrofac, UK (deepwater derrick lay) Vessel) will be equipped with 6 engines.

MAN said that the orders received were mainly due to the positive results of high-performance cylinders, lower engine operating costs, technical advantages, and after-the-fact control management experience.
MAN's denitration equipment injects urea into the exhaust gas and chemically reacts with ammonium sulphate, thereby reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) by more than 80%. The device was licensed from DNV GL in September to demonstrate the “Tier III†requirement for the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to control nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions from exhaust gases. According to the company's instructions, the engine can meet the IMO Tier II specification, and the Tier III specification can also be met if the engine is equipped with an SCR system.
