MTU new 4000 series ship machine fuel saving 10%

At the Monaco Yacht Show, which ended not long ago, MTU Germany introduced a new 4000 series marine diesel engine that has just been upgraded and has lower NOx emissions and higher power. At present, this series of ships has been able to meet the US EPA Tier 2 emission standards, and the increased power can cover 1920 ~ 4300 kW.

The new 4000 series of ships introduced a reduction in emissions while reducing the single-cylinder power by 26% - at a speed of 2,100 rpm, the power increased from 170 kW to 215 kW. Based on this calculation, the power of the 12-cylinder machine of the new 4000 series ship covers 2040-2580 kW, the power of 16-cylinder machine covers 2720～3440 kW, and the power of 20-cylinder machine can reach 4300 kW.

The new 4000 Series is equipped with an upgraded common rail system, LEAD injectors, turbocharger system, and the company's newly developed electronic control system, ADEC, which burns fuel to increase efficiency and reduce emissions. Compared with MTU's original 959 series, the new 4000 series can save about 10% of fuel and increase power: the 959 series 12-cylinder has 3240 kW, and its replacement is the new 4000 series. The power of the cylinder machine is 3,440 kW; the power of the 959 series 16-cylinder machine is 4,320 kW, and the replacement of the new 4000 series 20-cylinder machine has a power of 4,300 kW.
