Iraq adjusts car tire conformity certification program

In order to protect domestic consumers and public safety, the Iraqi Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control recently changed the test program for the safety performance of imported automobile tires. This is the first large-scale adjustment made by the Iraqi side to the supervision of the import of automobile tires since the import product conformity certification scheme was implemented on May 1, 2011.

It is understood that this adjustment was mainly due to the change in the organization of compliance certification for imported automobile tires officially authorized by Iraq. Previously authorized institutions for the implementation of the Swiss SGS company and the French company BV, now changed to the French BV company as the only authority to issue agencies. The original SGS company asked Iraqi tires to provide e-Mark certification and report to clear the customs clearance, and after the adjustment, the French company BV asked the importer to carry out the safety performance testing of imported tires according to the Iraqi standards.
