ABC wins orders for two 16VDZD dual fuel engines

It is reported that the Belgian medium-speed diesel engine manufacturer ABC will supply two 16VDZD dual-fuel engines for a newly constructed dredger of the DEME Group in Belgium. The dredger was built by the Dutch Royal IHC shipyard.

The Minerva dredger will be operational by the end of 2016 and will be the first dredger with a dual fuel engine. In addition, DEME's other suction dredger “Scheldt River” will be built and put into operation at the same time.

It is understood that two dual-fuel engines of diesel (MDO) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) will meet the requirements of ecological (more stringent emission standards) and economic challenges (fluctuating oil prices) in order to strengthen the competitiveness of DEME in the world. The power of each dual-fuel engine is 2,400 kW at 900 rpm and meets IMO Tier 3 emission standards without the use of selective catalytic reduction systems or oxidation catalysts. This medium speed V type belongs to the DZ series.
