US electric vehicle sales in the first half of the year

According to statistics from overseas organizations, Gasgoo.com has compiled the sales ranking of plug-in electric vehicles in the US market in June this year. Nissan Leaf, plug-in Prius, Chevrolet Volvo, Tesla Model S, Ford Fusion hybrids, and Ford Fusion Energi were the best-selling vehicles, but Tesla Model S sales saw a significant year-on-year decline.

Overall sales: plug-in hybrid VS pure electric vehicles

According to the definition, plug-in electric vehicles include battery electric vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV). In contrast, there are more models of pure electric vehicles on the US market, and the total sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles are even larger, and the market scale is growing faster.

In June, the sales volume of pure electric vehicles in the US market was 4,982 units. In June of last year, 4,521 units increased 10.2% year-on-year, and decreased by 14.1% from the previous period. In the first half of the year, 25,844 units were sold, compared with 22,362 units in the same period of last year, an increase of 15.6% year-on-year.

In June, the sales volume of plug-in hybrid vehicles in the US market was 6,511. In June of last year, the number was 4,168, which was a significant year-on-year increase of 56.2%, a decrease of 2.1% from the previous month. The cumulative sales in the first half of the year were 29,129 units, which was 18,335 units in the same period of last year, a year-on-year increase of 58.9%.

Overall, the number of plug-in electric vehicles sold in the US market was 11,493 in June, and 8,689 in June of last year, a year-on-year increase of 32.3%. In the first half of the year, sales totaled 54,973 units, compared with 40,697 units in the same period last year, a surge of 35.1% year-on-year.

In June, pure electric vehicles accounted for 43.3% of the sales of plug-in electric vehicles, and accounted for 0.35% of the entire automobile market (1,414,413 US light vehicle sales in June); the proportion of plug-in hybrid vehicles was 56.7%, accounting for 0.46% of the total auto market share.

In the first half of the year, pure electric vehicles accounted for 47.0% of the sales of plug-in electric vehicles, which accounted for 0.31% of the entire automobile market (cumulative total sales of 6,708,813 US light vehicles in the first half of the year), which was 0.29% higher than the same period last year; Plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 53.0%, accounting for 0.36% of the total auto market share, which was higher than 0.24% in the same period of last year.
