According to reports, the board of directors of Samsung Total Petrochemical has approved a total of 1.66 trillion won (about 1.44 billion U.S. dollars) investment plan to build a new 1 million tons/year paraxylene plant in Dashan, Korea. When the new plant is put into use in September 2014, the company's paraxylene capacity will increase to 1.6 million tons per year. Samsung Total is a joint venture between South Korea’s Samsung Group and France’s Total Petrochemical, each with a half share.
