On Thursday, the powertrain remanufacturing base of the Volkswagen FAW Engine (Dalian) Co., Ltd., a joint venture established by Volkswagen and FAW Group, went into production in Dalian and became the first passenger car powertrain remanufacturing project in China.

Dr. Ni Kaiming, president and CEO of Volkswagen (China), said at the launch ceremony that the Dalian engine remanufacturing project was the first time that Volkswagen had reengineered the engine in China. Remanufacturing projects have just begun in China, and Volkswagen has a history of remanufacturing over 60 years. Volkswagen brings mature remanufacturing technologies and standards to China to conduct localized production, which is a practical contribution to China's environmental protection business.

Volkswagen also introduced the green factory concept to China. The FAW-Volkswagen Foshan plant under construction will set an example for China's auto production plants in terms of environmental protection. At present, Volkswagen is also increasing the investment and R&D strength of producing electric vehicles in China.

Wen Deen said that before 2015, Volkswagen will invest 6 billion euros in China, and put at least six new models in China each year. Volkswagen will become a powerful engine for the Chinese automobile industry.
