The reporter was informed that Jiangmen City is negotiating the settlement of FAW-Volkswagen's supporting projects. At present, Jiangmen has initially formed industrial agglomeration. The city has more than 60 various types of auto parts production companies, the main products cover the car wheels, car audio, wipers and so on. In 2011, the industrial output value of the auto parts industry in Jiangmen was 6.967 billion yuan, an increase of 66.2% year-on-year; the industrial added value was 1.649 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 57.2%. However, Jiangmen's existing auto parts manufacturing enterprises mainly focus on processing and production, and generally lack the corresponding R&D institutions. This is also the main reason why the auto parts industry in Jiangmen lacks high-end products with high technical content and high added value.
