McClellan joined Goodyear in 1988 and is responsible for managing the customer's tire business, including finance, sales and distribution. In 2001, he moved to commercial tires business and served as president of Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems, Goodyear's commercial tire marketing, renovation and service network. In September 2003, he was promoted to Vice President of Goodyear Commercial Tire Business. August 2008 became president of Goodyear's South American customer tire business.
Goodyear CEO Richard JKramer commented that Stephen has strong leadership skills and has made great contributions to the company. He has established a solid leadership position in North America for 20 years. He has extensive experience in customer and commercial tires and has established a very good relationship with customers. Therefore, the position of President of tire business in North America belongs to him.
Richard JKramer also stated that the company's North American operations have shown strong growth momentum in the first half of 2011, and will continue to maintain this growth momentum under the leadership of Stephen and strive to achieve a $450 million revenue target in 2013.
