Goodyear Completes Acquisition of Sava Tire Company


Founded in 1898, the tire factory of the United States, Goodyear Goodyear Tire, which has a history of nearly one hundred years since its establishment, was founded in the beginning of the business. The Hiblin brothers bought a cardboard factory in the eastern part of Akron, Ohio, and started to manufacture rubber products. Since its establishment, Goodyear, which is headquartered at 1144 East Market Street, Akron, Ohio, has 96 factories in 28 countries and employs 92,000 people. Goodyear's tire business in China began as early as 1994. In September of the same year, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Ltd. took the lead to establish a Dalian Goodyear Tire Co., Ltd., and it had 600 employees. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company completed the acquisition of a 20% stake worth US$52 million from Sava Tire, located in Kranj, Slovenia. According to Robert J. Keegan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goodyear, the acquisition is intended to consolidate its position as the second-largest tire manufacturer in Europe and its low-cost expansion.
