It is reported that the Norwegian company Clean Marine has received orders from China Hudong Zhonghua Shipbuilding to supply the exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS) for two new 38,000 tons of chemical tankers.
According to reports, the two new ships are part of a series of six ships ordered by Stolt Tankers and its joint operator NYK Stolt, and the other four ships may also be modified with EGCS. The system installation of the two vessels is expected to take place in 2015, and Clean Marine's exhaust gas cleaning system will ensure that the vessels meet all international and regional regulatory requirements.
Clean Marine's EGCS system is based on advanced vortex chamber technology with an integrated Fan and flue gas recirculation system, and an EGCS unit can serve multiple combustion units simultaneously. The new supply to Stolt Tankers is a hybrid system that cleans one main engine and three auxiliary machines on each ship, and three boilers emit Sox and PM, which is 140,000 kilograms per hour. The new vessel can use all types of water, including low alkaline water and brine, without loss of efficiency, and meets the current pH limits for water emissions in European and US waters.
