BASF has recently successfully developed an emission control system for the Yuchai YC6L engine using selective catalytic reduction (SCR) emission control technology . After being certified by the National Car Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the adoption of this system has significantly reduced the emission of nitrogen oxides and particulates from the Yuchai YC6L engine, which is far below the emission limits set by the Euro VI standards.
With the continuous increase in the number of car ownership, China's regulatory requirements for motor vehicle emissions have become increasingly stringent. As a supplier of automotive emission catalysts, BASF has been committed to developing advanced emission control solutions to help more customers meet more stringent emission regulations. Speaking of this cooperation with Yuchai, Luo Qile, BASF's head and vice president of automotive emission catalyst in Asia Pacific, said: "BASF will provide technical support to promote the cooperation between both parties in sustainable technology development. We are committed to meeting the market. Demand for high-quality solutions, taking into account current and future regulatory requirements."
The cooperation between BASF and Yuchai in the development of exhaust systems started in 2005. It was also learned that the diesel buses that were jointly developed by the two parties and met the national IV emission standards debuted during the Beijing Olympic Games and were later put into operation in major cities in China.
At present, BASF's Automotive Emissions Catalyst Business Unit has three R&D facilities in Asia, including the Asia-Pacific R&D center in Shanghai. Driven by the technology of this center, there will be more emission control solutions for motor vehicles to help customers meet emission regulations.
