U.S. restarts heavy rare earth production

China Drying Network News Molycorp Inc. announced on August 27 that it will officially launch heavy rare earth production. After the current boost of investment in production, the annual production capacity of heavy rare earth concentrates at the Mountain Pass Mine will reach more than 400 tons.

Molybdenum Corporation of the United States has begun producing heavy rare earth concentrate “CONCENTRATE” at the Mountain Pass Mine in southern California. “CONCENTRATE” will be shipped to a Canadian rare earth processing company, a Canadian rare earth processing company, acquired by the Molybdenum Company in June of this year, in a factory in Jiangsu, China, and processed into about 13 heavy rare earths such as lanthanum and cerium. Molybdenum company hopes to increase the purity of heavy rare earths and meet the needs of users in Japan and other countries.

The US Molybdenum Company plans to introduce heavy rare earth smelting separation equipment at the Mountain Pass Mine, Arizona-related plant, or Estonian subsidiary next year. It also plans to strengthen the recovery of heavy rare earths from used magnets and fluorescent lamps in order to achieve stable supply.
