Auramarine ballast water system won the IMO type approval

The CrystalBallast® ballast water treatment system at Finnish Auramarine Co., Ltd. has recently received an IMO type approval. It is reported that the approval was issued by DNV on behalf of the Norwegian Maritime Administration after successful land-based and shipping tests, in accordance with IMO G8 guidance and DNV rules.

The mechanical principle of the CrystalBallast ballast water treatment system is based on simultaneous filtration and UV treatment of ballast water. It is reported that the use of UV to treat ballast water is not only efficient, but also does not require any hazardous chemicals.

The system is divided into two stages: first, an automatic filter removes large particles of organic matter and sediment, followed by a medium-pressure UV device to disinfect plankton, bacteria, and pathogens. The system can be connected to pipes and the like, and integrated with the entire ship automation system. Not only is it energy-saving, compact and easy to install, it does not increase the time for ballast and discharge of ballast water and port berthing time.

Auramarine offers a processing capacity of 75-3000 m3/h for the new and modified boat market.
