Analysis of import and export of construction cranes and other construction machinery in the first half of the year

According to statistics of the General Administration of Customs, in the first half of 2012, the import and export volume of construction machinery in China was US$ 12.576 billion, an increase of 5.01% over the same period of last year. The import amount was 3.336 billion U.S. dollars, which was 36.2% lower than last year; the export value was 9.24 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 36.9% over the previous year, and the trade surplus was 5.9 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 4.38 billion U.S. dollars over the same period of last year. In June 2012, imports amounted to US$421 million, a year-on-year decrease of 41.4% and a 35.8% decrease from the previous quarter. In June, the export value was 1.826 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 43.3% year-on-year and an increase of 6.55% from the previous quarter. In the first half of 2012, US$2.027 billion was imported into the whole machine, which was a drop of 34.58% over the previous year and accounted for 60.75% of the total imports. Parts and components imports reached US$1.31 billion, a drop of 38.45% over the previous year and accounted for 39.25% of total imports. Among them, 8,858 sets of crawler excavators were imported, which amounted to 1,033 million U.S. dollars, down 58.41% and 45.65% year-on-year, respectively, which was more than a drop in overall machine prices. Products that have suffered a large drop in imports: large-scale all-terrain cranes, crawler cranes, tire excavators, other bulldozers, pavers, container forklifts, manual vans, scrapers, road rollers, and spare parts. Products with more imported growth: elevators and escalators, loaders, asphalt mixing equipment, tractors, tower cranes and high-powered bulldozers.
